AiVA overview
AiVA is Pawtal's built-in veterinary AI assistant — what it does, where it shows up, and how to use it safely.
Overview
AiVA is Pawtal's built-in veterinary AI assistant. It's embedded across the platform, not a separate chatbot — it shows up where the work happens.
Who can use this
Any user whose hospital has AiVA enabled. AiVA is licensed per-tenant; if your hospital hasn't turned it on under Admin → Feature Flags → AiVA, the sparkle icon and inline AiVA prompts won't appear anywhere in the app.
Where to find it
AiVA lives inside specific workflows. Look for the sparkle icon.
How it works
Step-by-step
- Look for the sparkle icon
AiVA surfaces inline wherever it can help — next to the SOAP note editor, beside a drug picker, above a lab result.
- Review every suggestion
Suggestions are clearly marked. Read before accepting.
- Edit and save
You can edit the suggestion before committing. Nothing AiVA writes is final until you save.
Tips
- If a suggestion looks off, click Wasn't helpful — the feedback tunes AiVA for your hospital.
- AiVA respects your hospital's style guide if your admin has uploaded one under Admin → AiVA Settings.
FAQ
Does AiVA chat see patient data?
Chat sees only the clinic you are signed into. A clinic, hospital, or patient id typed into the message is not permission to open another clinic's chart. A platform admin does not get a cross-clinic view from chat. Someone signed in with no clinic membership cannot use chat.
Is AiVA a clinical decision-support system?
No. It's an assistant. Clinical judgment stays with the clinician.
Can I turn AiVA off?
Admins can disable AiVA entirely or by feature under Admin → AiVA Settings.
