Pawtal Partner App vs Full Suite: Keep Your PIMS or Replace It

Overview

Pawtal is adopted two ways. The right one depends on whether your hospital wants to keep its existing EMR or move everything onto one platform.

Partner App. Keep your current EMR (Vetspire, ezyVet, Cornerstone). Pawtal adds everything around it — scheduling, training, HR, safety, compliance, culture, checklists, work chat, AiVA. No rip-and-replace.
Full Suite. Pawtal replaces the entire stack including the EMR. Patient charts, treatment sheets, scheduling, billing, client communication — one login, one system.

PAWTAL Companion Chrome overlay on the live Vetspire chart. Reads clinic hostname and visit ids from the URL; never stores a Vetspire API key. Macros and AiVA Scribe Insert into the last focused PIMS field. Replaces: Leaving the chart for a second login Full Suite staff work in PAWTAL. Companion is the Partner App overlay on the customer’s existing EMR.
Reporting Cross-module reports (workforce, safety, training are full-fidelity on both paths; clinical/financial reports require Full Suite data). Replaces: Tableau, Looker, spreadsheets
Role-Targeted Dashboards Home pages tuned to each role — staff, manager, admin.
Manual Insights Tenant admin’s view of what their staff is reading in the user manual.
Client Communications (cc-center) Client database, SMS/email outbound, message templates, automated reminders, online-booking confirmations. Replaces: PetDesk, Weave, Podium, Demandforce Partner App requires the PIMS-sync bridge (under Integrations) to mirror clients + appointments from Vetspire / ezyVet / Cornerstone into PAWTAL. With the bridge enabled, PAWTAL replaces Weave / PetDesk / Demandforce. Bridge work is on the roadmap.
FETCH — Client Feedback Post-visit satisfaction surveys, low-rating service-recovery queue, and Google review routing. Public form at /fetch/[token]; admin configures templates + routing at /admin/fetch and managers run operations at /management/fetch. Replaces: Birdeye, Podium, Solutionreach, paper feedback cards
Client Connections Missed-appointment recovery, unconfirmed-upcoming chasing, and tenant-defined custom call lists driven by an automation rules engine — whiteboard transitions and scheduler changes create the calls, assign them and date them. Replaces: Paper callback lists, PetDesk / Weave recall queues Full Suite only, and gated in code (lib/connections/guard.ts) rather than left to the feature flag. The module is built around PAWTAL owning the client record: it needs a number to dial, consent state it can trust, and a contact history that is actually complete. On Partner App the PIMS owns all three, so messaging would be sending off a stale copy of somebody’s opt-out and "last spoken to" would miss every call made in the PIMS. A degraded worklist-only version was built and then withdrawn — the triggers are PAWTAL’s own data so it worked, but it made every surface in the module a permanent two-case problem in exchange for an experience no customer had asked for. Reversible: nothing in the rules engine assumes Full Suite.
Inventory & Vendors Products, controlled drugs, counts, manufacturers, order lists, POs, repair list, reports, tags, vendors, wish list. Replaces: Covetrus, eVetPractice, spreadsheets Overlaps with PIMS inventory; we don’t shadow-copy dispense events.

How it works

Every module in Pawtal is classified into one of three states for a given path:

Included — the feature works identically to the Full Suite version. Same UI, same data, same depth.
Available, with caveat — the surface is present but depends on something extra (typically a PIMS-sync bridge for Partner App tenants). The caveat is spelled out under the row.
Not included on this path — the feature only ships when Pawtal owns the source of truth (patient chart, encounter, charge). Available on Full Suite.

The classification is intentional, not accidental. Pawtal's design rule is no shadow-copying of the customer's PIMS data — if a feature only makes sense when we own the chart (think Treatment Sheets, Lab Orders, Billing), we don't fake it on Partner App. It either works properly or it stays off the menu.

Find your path
Look at the orientation banner above the table. It tells you which path your hospital is on and roughly how many modules you have today.
Scan the gaps
On Partner App, rows where Full Suite is checked but Partner App isn't are highlighted. Those are the features you'd unlock by upgrading. Use the See what you'd unlock with Full Suite → button on the banner to jump to the first one.
Drill into a feature
Click Manual on any row to read the full article for that feature, or Open to jump straight into the page (if it's enabled for you).
Filter to a bucket
Use the bucket pills (Clinical, Workforce, Operations, Safety & Compliance, Culture & Growth, AiVA) or the search bar to narrow the table to one area.

Tips

Workforce, Safety & Compliance, Culture & Growth modules are identical on both paths. That's on purpose — they have nothing to do with the EMR, so there's no reason for Partner App tenants to get less.
Most Clinical modules are Full Suite only. A handful (Whiteboard, Procedures Library, Drug Reference, Calculators, Forms, Discharge Callbacks, Procedure Notes) work on Partner App because they don't require Pawtal to own the patient chart.
AiVA inherits the path of its host module. AiVA Chat and AiVA Schedule work on both paths; AiVA Scribe and AiVA Patient Chart require Full Suite because they read the chart Pawtal owns.

FAQ

Can my hospital switch paths later?

Yes. Moving from Partner App to Full Suite is the usual direction — we keep your historical data and turn on the EMR layer. Talk to your account team when you're ready.

Why is Client Communications marked "with caveat" on Partner App?

Because it needs a list of clients and appointments to send messages against. On Full Suite, Pawtal owns that data natively. On Partner App, it depends on the PIMS-sync bridge under Admin → Integrations to mirror clients and appointments from your EMR.

Why isn't Inventory available on Partner App?

Your PIMS already tracks inventory off the encounters it owns. Shadow-copying every dispense event into Pawtal would duplicate the source of truth and create reconciliation pain. If you want Pawtal's inventory module, that's a strong reason to move to Full Suite.
